What is diphtheria?

And again about sore, diphtheria is already in Ukraine. The first confirmed cases of this infection were revealed. According to the Ministry of Health, vaccination coverage among children reaches 70%, and among adults an order of magnitude less. And it is not surprising that among the sick almost all adults and only one child. Because, if children were poorly and poorly vaccinated, then adults forgot to do revaccination against diphtheria every ten years. And now the doctors are scaring: we are waiting for an epidemic, diphtheria in adults.

Diphtheria causative agent

The causative agent of diphtheria is corynebacterium. It is quite stable, in the external environment it can last up to 15 days (it can also be infected by contact), but more often the transmission of diphtheria or the transmission of the diphtheria pathogen occurs by airborne droplets. The incubation period is from 3 to 10 days.

Diphtheria, symptoms

The worst thing is that the first symptoms of diphtheria resemble a sore throat: sore throat, fever, difficulty swallowing and hoarseness. That is, those symptoms that people begin to treat (thanks to advertising) with lysezas and angelexes, but you need to run to the doctor (at least not self-medicate).

Diphtheria Prevention

You can sit at home, not go out, wash your hands constantly and not remove the mask from your face, and anyway, the transmission of diphtheria pathogen is possible ...
The only way to protect yourself from diphtheria and avoid dangerous complications is to vaccinate against diphtheria in children and revaccinate against diphtheria in adults.
Vaccinations are given to children according to the national preventive vaccination calendar at 2, 4, and 6 months, and at 18 months and 6 years of age with DTP vaccine (diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus). Then, at 16 years old, the revaccination of ADS - M (vaccination against diphtheria and tetanus) and so on every next ten years.

Diphtheria after vaccination

Is it possible to get vaccinated, but still get sick? YES, POSSIBLE. Diphtheria is possible, but in a milder form and without a threat to life, but it depends on the quality of the vaccine.
Vaccines, including Indian ones, which vaccinate children in state institutions and private clinics in Ukraine undergo quality control, are completely safe and approved for use by the Ministry of Health. But if, nevertheless, a stereotype has formed in the parents associated with the level of development of domestic medicine, and the child is not vaccinated, do not wait, this is dangerous. Consider other options, such as vaccination in European Union countries. The best option is Poland. Vaccination in clinics in Poland is carried out by the quality Belgian vaccine Infanrix, Infanrix Hexa. Vaccination in Poland
Dear parents, while your children are healthy, actively attending school or gaining strength before the new school year, I recommend that you thoroughly check your child's vaccination card (this should be on every outpatient card: for some from the hospital, and for others it is issued in the clinic). This is when you have been given at least some vaccinations. And if it is not, contact your family doctor. I mean that vaccination is still necessary. There is no other way to protect yourself.
