Braces and their varieties

All bracket systems are divided into two large groups:

• Lingual braces.

Braces that are located on the inside of the teeth and, accordingly, will be invisible to the people around you. Since no one sees them, it makes no sense to make them aesthetic, therefore they are made from various metal alloys.

• Vestibular braces.

Braces are fixed on the outside of the teeth.

Vestibular braces are divided into two groups, which differ from each other in the way the arch is fixed on the braces:

• Ligature braces.

The archwire is attached to the bracket groove using ligatures (colored or transparent rubber rings), or metal wire. Visits to the orthodontist should be done every 3-4 weeks. In orthodontics in Ukraine, this is the most widespread and at the same time outdated system of braces.

• Self-ligating braces.

There is a locking mechanism on them, which tightly fixes the arch in the braces. The arches in the locks have minimal friction in the bracket groove, which speeds up the treatment itself. They allow you to go to the orthodontist less often, on average once every six weeks, depending on the stage of treatment.
