What is kidney cancer?

Kidney cancer is a type of cancer, a cancerous tumor that develops from kidney tissue cells. It is important that cancer always develops precisely from epithelial tissue. And since all tubules are lined with epithelium in the kidney, kidney cancer occupies a considerable place in probability from all types of cancers.

What are the symptoms of kidney cancer?

Symptoms of the first stage of kidney cancer

At the initial stages, when the size of the tumor does not exceed 7 cm, the patient does not feel any symptoms, the tumor is very rarely diagnosed at this stage, although the effectiveness of treatment at this time is maximum.

Symptoms of a second stage of kidney cancer

In the second stage, the symptoms of the tumor begin to appear. The tumor itself is already larger than 7 cm but still limited by the capsule of the kidney.

Symptoms that arouse suspicion include:

  • Blood in urine (hematuria)
  • Pressure increase due to impaired hormone production by the kidney and adrenal gland
  • Kidney pain
  • Education in the place of the affected kidney, which can be felt by hand
  • Also, at this stage, an increase in regional lymph nodes (those located nearby) is possible, therefore, the doctor is likely to notice this and suspect something is wrong with the urologist.

Symptoms of the third stage of kidney cancer

In the third stage, the tumor tissue breaks the capsule of the kidney and leaves the surrounding tissue. In this case, the general symptoms of cancer, such as general weakness, diarrhea, body aches, low-grade fever, prolonged permanent weight loss, join the above symptoms. These symptoms are added, since at 3 stages there are often widespread metastases in different organs, which causes a general weakening of the body. Cancer is considered the third stage until it passes through George's fascia

Symptoms of the fourth stage of kidney cancer

At the last stage of cancer, all of the above symptoms persist and accrue, the general symptoms of cancer reach their peak, it is constant pain, weakness, it is possible not to understand what is happening around, since metastases can also be in the brain.

Renal cancer metastases

Kidney cancer metastasizes quite early, sometimes metastases in distant organs can be detected in the first stage of cancer. Metastases are found in 25% of people with a diagnosis.

Where does kidney cancer metastasize?

According to different research data varies but the trend continues. In patients with stage 4, metastases are most often found:

  • 60% of cases are metastases to the lungs
  • 30% of cases are bone metastases
  • In 17% of patients metastases were found in non-regional lymph nodes
  • In 14%, metastases were found in the liver
  • And only in 4% of patients metastases were found in the brain

Diagnosis of kidney cancer

The only diagnostic method after which you can make a final diagnosis is a biopsy. It is on a microscope that you can examine the biomaterial under magnification and draw conclusions and the malignancy of this disease.

A preliminary diagnosis or suspicion can be made thanks to methods such as:

  • Ultrasound examination of the kidneys (ultrasound)
  • X-ray study using contrasting drugs - intravenous urography
  • CT scan
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Kidney cancer treatment

Treatment for prostate cancer as well as symptoms depends on the stage at which the disease was diagnosed.

Stage One Kidney Cancer Treatment

At the first stage, it is best to use a surgical method of treatment - nephrectomy. This is the removal of the affected kidney entirely. The surgical method is the most effective and gives an excellent recovery. About 90% of people with stage 1 kidney cancer have fully recovered. Often when the cancer has not yet reached the size of 7 cm, there is a big chance to make a partial resection of the kidney - that is, remove only the part that is affected by the tumor and also capture some healthy tissue to prevent relapse. This method is now gaining more and more speed, as the number of diagnosing kidney cancer in the first stage and after partial resection rises, the patient's quality of life is much better than after total removal. This is due to the preservation of the hormonal function of the adrenal gland and so the hormonal function of the kidney itself. This operation can be performed by laparoscopic method.

Then, according to the situation, additional use of chemotherapy or radiotherapy is possible

Stage Two Kidney Cancer Treatment

The second stage shows only complete removal of the kidney along with the tumor - nephrectomy. Removal of only part of the kidney is either impossible or leaves the risks of relapse too great. Using only radiotherapy or chemotherapy is not effective, since kidney cancer is quite resistant to them. These methods are used more often in the later stages of cancer to alleviate the general condition of the patient and prolong survival.

Treatment for stage 3 and 4 kidney cancer

In the final stages of cancer, surgical removal is performed completely throughout the kidney with a fence of all infiltrations around the organ (especially often clots in the vena cava), adrenal glands and nearby lymph nodes. With massive metastasis, patient survival can increase to several years due to quality treatment. But over, complete cure is extremely rare and palliative therapy is mainly carried out.

Life after kidney cancer treatment

When diagnosed in stages 1-2, patients have a very high chance of no relapse in subsequent life. Partial resection of the kidney gives a chance to preserve all the functions of the organ and the continuation of the usual lifestyle without restrictions. When you remove a kidney completely, you will have to change the lifestyle and introduce some restrictions in it to match the condition.

The main limitations are

  • Refusal of alcohol or very rare and small acceptance
  • Control the amount of fluid in the body
  • Compliance with a diet prescribed by a doctor
  • Constant pressure control
  • Constant regular examination for relapse.

During laparoscopic surgery, the patient will be able to be discharged from the hospital after 2 weeks! Early diagnosis and treatment in professional clinics in Europe helps to completely cure cancer in our time!
